Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch begins with Oliver, a young boy living with his mother in Motorville, which might be any small town in America. After sneaking off with a friend late one night Oliver almost drowns but survives thanks to the brave efforts of his mother. Tragedy strikes when she dies unexpectedly following the incident, leaving Oliver devastated and alone.  (IGN)
